Time to update your locks for fall? It’s that time of year where everyone is wanting a change for fall/winter. You’re ready for sweaters and boots, and great hair to go along with. It doesn’t have to be major, so here are a few ideas to tweak your hair without a huge commitment!
Yes, bronde. Blonde + Brunette
It’s one of the biggest hair color trends this season. This color is perfect for a brunette wanting to add balayage or a blonde who is wanting to tone down their blonde a bit for the months to come. How to achieve this look? If you’re blonde, it could be as simple as glossing your hair a tad darker, or adding a darker root shade and fading it into a nice golden/bronze color. Here are some of our favorite “brondes”.
We’ve all been there, the thought of bangs is an exciting, yet daunting one. There are many things that could go wrong, and if so, you’re looking forward to months of awkwardness. Any type of fringe comes with commitment, so let’s make sure you’ve got the right one for your face! There are many things that one must take into mind when taking the plunge for bangs. When choosing which bang is best for you, consider hair texture, hairline, and cowlicks before ever committing. Face shape, being the most important, can really make or break a fringe. Now let’s take all these into mind and go over which bang is right for you.
When choosing a bang for a round face it’s all about giving the illusion of a longer face. Texture is key as it will help elongate the face instead of boxing it off and creating a wider/more round look. Bang no-no’s would be a rounded bang, no surprise there. Or any type of full blunt bang, as this will draw emphasis to the widest part of the face, being the cheekbones.
Square faces need something that will soften the forehead. “Bardot” bangs can definitely work on this face shape, with just enough texture to draw less attention to a strong forehead. Long, side swept bangs are also another great option. No’s for this face shape would be wide, blunt bangs or anything that will make the forehead appear wider.
Heart Shaped Faces
Heart shaped faces are a little tricky. For one, most heart shaped faces have a widows peak, which needs to be taken into consideration when choosing a fringe. Choose a bang that will work with your hairline instead of against it. Think choppy, longer versions of a bang. Longer, face-framing bangs take away emphasis from the widest part (being the forehead) and draw it towards the chin being the narrowest. Texture is always important if you’re doing a short style bang. No’s would be blunt, thick bangs.
BLUNT, FULL, straight across bangs will give the illusion of a wider face and helps counteract the longness. This will also bring emphasis to the eyes. Side swept bangs that slightly taper around the face can also add width to the cheekbones. No’s for this face shape would be baby bangs of any sort. Just don’t do it.
And lastly the Oval Face shape, which pretty much any fringe will work on. The only things you should stay clear of would be a rounded bang that will cover too much of the face and baby bangs. Again, don’t do it.

Hey ladies – we’ve all been there – we’re adults, so why the hell are we still getting breakouts like we’re 13? Gah!
Well guess what – it’s because of our hormones. Mmmmhmmm. Those pesky hormones are causing “hormonal breakouts”, and they’re pretty tough to treat. If you use an anti-acne skincare line, it’s most likely formulated for teenage skin, and let’s face it, we’re not teenagers anymore and we shouldn’t be treating our skin like it is either. Now that we’re in our 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s we have to not only fight the hormonal breakouts, but also the early signs of aging and damage caused by the sun and inflammation. And a skincare line formulated for teeny boppers could cause more harm than good.
Well never fear, because Eminence Organics has just released an amazing new addition to their skincare brand – Eight Greens. The Eight Greens line consists of 2 different Eight Greens masques, an Eight Greens Youth Serum, and an Eight Greens Whip Moisturizer fromulated to fight hormonal breakouts and aging to keep your skin super balanced, clear, and youthful.
We’ve developed a new Eight Greens Organic Facial at Lucy Pop Salon to give you a professional kickstart to more balanced, youthful skin. Schedule an appointment online or by calling 615-327-3474. We also carry the full line of Eight Greens skincare to use at home – in full retail sizes, and in a nifty “Starter Kit” with everything you need that last about 3 months. Now there’s no reason to deal with breakouts when you’re an adult!
